  • Walusimbi was on the mark again in the 71st minute with yet another simple tap-in from an Enoch Agwanda cross.

Ugandan international Godfrey Walusimbi struck twice as Gor Mahia edged closer to retaining their Kenyan Premier League title with a 2-1 win over Bandari at the Mombasa County Stadium on Saturday.

A win against Ulinzi Stars in their next match will take the defending champions to an unassailable 65 points with five games to go, and that will be enough to hand the Frank Nuttall-led K’Ogalo their third successive league title.

At the City Stadium, visiting Chemelil Sugar compounded AFC Leopards’ woes after subjecting the the 13-time champions to a 2-1 defeat while Thika United beat relegation-threatened Nakuru All Stars at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

High-flying Muhoroni Youth remain the biggest success story of the second leg as they jumped to fifth place on the log with an impressive 1-0 home win against KCB.

Coach Zdravko Logarusic was absent from the touchline once again and his assistant Ezekiel Akwana admitted that the team is suffering from both on and off-the-pitch troubles.

“The club is having managerial and financial issues at the moment, but even apart from that, there are problems that we are facing as a team,” he said.

“Our players played to instructions but the strikers could not keep their cool in the box and we lost very many chances as a result,” he said after the match.

Meshack Karani scored a goal in either half of the match to ensure his team steer clear of the relegation zone.
