Gor will host the first leg tie before travelling to the Stade Municipal de Toamasina in Miarinarivo a fortnight later for the return fixture.

“This looks like a fair draw to me, but I will have to do my research about the team and players,” Gor Mahia’s team manager, Jolawi Obondo, told Daily Nation Sport in his reaction to the draw.

K’Ogalo are seeking to progress to the first round of the competition proper for the third successive time, having eliminated US Bitam (Gabon) and ANSE Re union (Seychelles) in the last two seasons.

Domestic cup holders Sofapaka will host Zimbabwe’s Platinum FC in the first leg preliminary tie of the Confederation Cup, before the Zimbabwean club return the favour at the Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.

“I know them. They are a very good club. We will have to prepare well, buy three good players and look for two friendly matches in either Rwanda or Uganda.”  Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa said. Sofapaka boast a far better record than other Kenyan clubs in the continental competitions in recent times.
