The 20-man squad mainly comprises of the Under 23 players who did duty against Egypt in last month’s All Africa Games qualifiers.

Team manager Simeon Mulama on Thursday told Nation Sport that their decision to leave out the senior players is part of their plan to build a solid team for the future.

Mulama, a former Kenyan international, was however quick to warn their opponents that the juniors will be gunning for a win to help boost their confidence ahead of next month’s Olympic Games qualifiers match against Botswana.

“The coach (Bobby Williamson) is a strong believer in youth football. Our aim is to helping the young players gain experience so that they can grow into a force to reckon with in the future.

FIFA RANKINGS

Harambee Stars lost their bid to represent the country in this year’s All Africa Games after going down to the young Pharaohs after a 4-1 aggregate loss, and are yet to win a single match under the stewardship of the current technical bench led by Williamson.

Kenya sits 60 places ahead of the Seychelles national team in the March Fifa world rankings, and the last time the two teams met was in 2011 where Harambee Stars thrashed the islanders 7-0 on aggregate in a World Cup qualifier.

The team has been in residential training at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani for the past five days, and will travel alongside six members of the technical bench.
