The second edition of the 2016 Kenyan Premier League Under 20 Championship kicks off Saturday with four games lined up in Machakos and at Camp Toyoyo grounds in Jericho.

The league managers released a list of players that had been cleared to take part in the competitions for each of the 16 teams on Friday. They announced that a total of 77 players had been disqualified due to suspected age cheating.

Gor Mahia (11), Sofapaka (11) and Bandari (10) had the highest numbers of disqualified players due to falsification of documents, inaccurate details and inauthentic birth certificates.

Kakamega Homeboyz, finalists in the April edition of the tournament, will begin the tournament in an early morning kick off against Posta Rangers in Ruaraka.

Homeboyz, coached by former Congo United and AFC leopards coach Gilbert Selebwa, are confident of winning the title.

“The players want to do more this time round, we are going for the ultimate prize,” said Selebwa.

Mathare United and Bandari will each be bidding for their maiden Under 20 title as they face off at the same grounds later in the day, as former champions Western Stima take on Nairobi City Stars.
