AFC Leopards came from a goal down to beat Oserian 3-1 in a lively encounter at Naivasha on Saturday.

The win pushed Leopard’s points tally to 54, same is league leaders Tusker and swung the pressure back on the brewers who face third-placed Gor Mahia on Sunday at City Stadium in the Tusker Premier League.

Charles Okwemba cooly headed home Leopards’ third goal four minutes from time to settle the nerves of the thousands of AFC’s travelling fans in Naivasha.

The home side, fighting for survival in the league, had started the brighter side as Leopards struggled to settle.

Ben Barasa took full advantage of some hesitant Leopard’s defending to stab the ball into the net from a corner in the ninth minute.

But like the true title chasing outfit they are, Leopards responded soon after. Goal poaching Mike Baraza picked the ball on the edge October of the box to beat Oserian goalkeeper George Ochieng with a ground shot using his right foot on 14 minutes.

Bernard Mang’oli made it 2-1 two minutes later with a beautifully struck free kick from an angle that did not favour him.

Oserian stayed alive, with substitute John Keo threatening a comeback before Okwemba’s header settled the affair.

At the City Stadium, Sony Sugar twice came from behind with goals from Ismail Salim to draw 2-2 with Sofapaka.

Sofapaka surged ahead from a goal by Joseph Nyaga in the fifth minute but Salim levelled one minute to half-time.

Then the 2009 champions went ahead again with a Humphrey Mieno strike in the 57th minute but once again Salim was on point to level the scores in the 65th minute.

Saturday’s other league matches between Karuturi and City Stars, and that between KCB and Mathare United ended 0-0.
