Muhoroni Youth striker Wycliffe Ochomo has defended himself against negative reports about him in media, saying he will not be distracted from achieving his objectives this season.

Ochomo, who has nine goals in 11 league matches, told Saturday Nation Sport o Friday that he is beginning to warm up to the idea of winning this year’s Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot.

The burly forward accused a section of local sports journalists of publishing pictures with a malicious intent of “depicting him as an undisciplined individual”.

Two bizarre photos of Ochomo have gone viral on social media in the last few months. One picture shows the striker indecently tugging at the backside of Posta Rangers player and another captures Ochomo showing a Mathare United player the insides of his shorts during a game.

However, the former Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars striker has said the photos were taken out of context.

“I am not like that. I don’t know why some people in the media try so hard to paint me in bad light. I think they are bent in spoiling my future plans,” said Ochomo.

Ochomo is currently leading the top scorers’ charts with nine goals from 11 games, and he admitted that he has stepped up training this year in order to achieve his ambitions.

“This place is not my home. So, why did I come here? For a job. That is all I am doing. I am putting in a little extra work in training, but I think that Muhoroni has been a good, good place for me.”

“The coach believes in me and understands me well, the club managers make sure that we are comfortable and God has also been faithful.”
