SportPesa Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks have completed the signing of Kakamega High School winger James Mazembe.

The 2017 Airtel Rising Stars National Secondary Schools Term Two B Games’ Most Valuable Player penned a three-year deal at the club’s offices on Wednesday.

The Kenya Under-20 ace has been in the books of Zoo Kericho on loan from Green Commandoes but an agreement was reached to have the player join Sharks immediately after his 0-level in November.

“We are happy to have Mazembe in our books. It’s part of our vision to recruit young players for development and further sharpen them for markets abroad. We reached an agreement with his previous clubs who gave us a leeway in signing him,” said Sharks chairman Robert Maoga.

The player expressed his excitement after completing a move that will see him feature in Kenya’s top flight.

“I am happy that I have decided my future. I can now concentrate on my final exams because I have a home after school. My objective is to use the opportunity to gain premier league experience before turning pro,” he told Nation Sport.

The youngster scored four goals at the recently concluded school games.

The highly-fancied Kakamega High, coached by Brenden Mwinamo, finished third to qualify for the East Africa School Games scheduled for August in Gulu, Uganda.
