Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday stormed into the semi-finals of the GOtv Shield tournament after hammering Eldoret Youth 5-0 in the quarterfinals at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Sharks had no problems dispatching the minnows, dominating proceedings throughout the game, although the Eldoret-based team also exhibited some well orchestrated moves for a short period in the first half.

Sharks went ahead in the 15th minute through Masoud Juma, who slotted home a rebound after an earlier effort from Duke Abuya that had come off the palms of Eldoret goalkeeper Reagan Wanjala.

Eldoret Youth's best chance during the first half came in the 26th minute when Kevin Mwanzi dispatched a ferocious shot from outside the box, only for it to ricochet off the cross bar and out of danger.

The second half was particularly daunting for the Eldoret-based team, as they conceded four goals in quick succession.

Abuya doubled Sharks' advantage in the 58th minute, opening the floodgates for a flurry of goals from the high-flying SportPesa Premier League debutantes.

Harambee Stars striker Juma easily outwitted his marker three minutes later and with only the goalkeeper to beat, slotted home to complete his brace.
Towering midfielder Sven Yidah then added the fourth goal 10 minutes before time after finding the back of the net with a well placed shot that gave Wanjala no chance.
There was still time for striker Ebrimma Sanneh to put his name on the scoresheet, and the Gambian finished off a well co-ordinated move from Sharks with five minutes to go to all but end Eldoret Youth's fairytale run in this year's domestic cup.
