Kimanzi, Zico clash in must-win league match

What you need to know:

  • “We are now looking at the second leg. The delay in beginning of the league has taken a toll on my players because we did not have enough pre-season training. We are however not worried because I know we shall return stronger in the second leg,” coach Zico told Saturday Nation Sport.
  • Stephen Ocholla and Kevin Amwayi, who scored for the soldiers during their midweek clash against Mathare last weekend are fit for the Sunday clash, making this fixture a potentially enticing affair.

Former national team coaches Francis Kimanzi and Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno have serious questions to mull over as a result of their teams’ poor run so far this season.

And the two men will seek to find answers to those questions when Tusker and Sony Sugar clash this afternoon at the Kasarani Stadium.

The brewers and the sugar millers are enduring a torrid season, and it is no longer a secret that the two coaches are staring at the sack if they fail to turn around their teams’ fortunes soon enough.

Sony, the 2006 league champions, have won only once in their last eight matches, while Tusker’s have collected just four points in as many matches.
A meeting between these two teams in the penaultimate round of matches in the first leg with therefore provide the two coaches another chance jumpstart their floundering campaign.

SECOND LEG

“We are now looking at the second leg. The delay in beginning of the league has taken a toll on my players because we did not have enough pre-season training. We are however not worried because I know we shall return stronger in the second leg,” coach Zico told Saturday Nation Sport.

Stephen Ocholla and Kevin Amwayi, who scored for the soldiers during their midweek clash against Mathare last weekend are fit for the Sunday clash, making this fixture a potentially enticing affair.
