AFC Leopards’ revival under Dutch coach Jan Koops continued with a 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars in a Kenyan Premier League match at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Leopards thrashed Sofapaka 3-1 at the same venue.

City Stars drew first blood when George Odari scored in the 52nd minute after collecting a superb pass from Daniel Serunkuma.

Stars’ lead lasted for just three minutes as Oscar Kadenge pulled Leopards level in the 55th minute.

Collins Osuya scored the winner with a sublime free kick in the 75th minute.

In Mombasa, Dodo Kayombo maintained good form as he steered Sofapaka to a narrow 1-0 victory over struggling Congo United.

It took 82 minutes for Sofapaka to break the deadlock with Kayombo pouncing on a rebound to knock the ball past advancing goalkeeper Evans Omondi and give the 2009 champions victory.

Played well

The win pushed Sofapaka to 33 points while Congo remain rooted at the bottom of the table with the Premiership debutants having lost their last seven league matches.

“I am happy my players showed character to emerge with the win against a Congo United side that were determined to fight for a draw,” said Sofapaka coach Francis Kimanzi.

His Congo United counterpart, Abdalla Said, said: “We had played well but lost concentration in the dying minutes of the game. We have to go back to the drawing board and rectify our mistakes.”

In other matches on Sunday, Chemelil Sugar beat KCB 3-2 while Rangers and Mathare United settled for a barren draw.
