An exciting Kenyan Premier League Under-20 Championships final beckons after Gor Mahia and Mathare United won their respective semi-final matches on Tuesday.

Gor dispatched Ushuru 2-0 while Mathare needed a 3-1 post-match penalty victory over Kakamega Homeboyz after a 1-1 deadlock in regulation time to set up what is expected to be a cracking final on Friday.

Henry Oguk Juma was the golden boy for K’Ogalo Tuesday at the Camp Toyoyo ground, scoring in either side of the half to fire K’Ogalo to their first ever final in the junior championship.

Oguk’s brace was enough to dim Ushuru’s hopes. The tax men will now battle Homeboyz for a third place finish.

Juma opened his account getting on the final ball from Hilary Ojwang to beat Ushuru goalie Brian Otieno before adding another after the interval.

For Mathare, it was a battle of nerves as they were forced to head to post-match penalties after a one-all draw in regulation time.

The ‘Slum Boys’ had begun remarkably well swinging to the lead through Dennis Kamau’s effort in the 32nd minute but they were pegged back 13 minutes after the interval when Homeboyz leveled through Kibwage Mike’s expertly taken free-kick.

Mathare then had to summon their wit in the lotteries to prevail where Mike Odhiambo, Alfayo Oyugi and Patrick Chege converted while Dennis Kamau missed.

Homeboyz could only watch in disappointment as they only converted one through Ogolla Norman.

Gor and Mathare will now collide on Friday with each side setting their eyes on the trophy and the Sh500,000 cash prize for champions.
