The race for the Kenyan Premier League title remained tight at the summit of the table after Mathare United floored Ulinzi Stars 2-0 at Afraha Stadium to stretch their points tally to 20.

On Saturday, Tusker cemented their position at the top of the log after overcoming defending champions Gor Mahia 1-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium to also move to 20 points.

At Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, gritty Ushuru held pre-match favourites AFC Leopards 1-1, while Sofapaka’s free fall continued after they lost 2-1 to visiting Kakamega Homeboyz at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

RALLIED FROM BEHIND

Ingwe rallied from behind to level in the 71st through Kepha Aswani’s well taken penalty.

“I’m happy but I think the penalty awarded to Leopards wasn’t deserved. Things have to change but I’m happy with a draw,” Ushuru coach Ken Kenyatta said after the duel.

At Thika Municipal Stadium, hosts Thika United picked their season’s second win on the bounce after beating unlucky Nairobi City Stars 1-0.
