Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers on Wednesday joined AFC Leopards in the quarter-finals of the Kenyan Premier League Under-20 Championship after their last Group A matches.

Homeboyz held Tusker to a 1-1 draw at the Ruaraka grounds to seal a quarters berth  on seven points, while Thika United and Posta Rangers settled for a similar scoreline to see Posta edge Tusker for a quarters place. Both had been tied on four points but the mailmen had a superior goal difference.

At Ruaraka, Dennis Kamau’s penalty in the 33rd minute gave the brewers the lead but Homeboyz leveled via Erick Mwema in the 44th minute.

The two clubs now join Ingwe who defeated Ulinzi Stars 2-1  on Tuesday evening at the Camp Toyoyo to sail to the last eight.

Valdo Madegwa and Jack Bruno scored for Ingwe who advanced at the expense of the soldiers who have crashed out of the tourney.

Stephen Mweni scored a consolation for Ulinzi but it was too little too late.

At the same time, Gor Mahia were on the receiving end as Sony Sugar staged a remarkable comeback to hit them 3-2 in another thrilling encounter on Tuesday.

Henry Ogutu bagged a first half brace for Gor’s junior side and they looked the likely winners of the match but things turned horribly wrong for them after the interval when Sony burst to life.

Clinton Onyango jump-started the comeback shortly after the break before Stephen Onyango levelled the scores, making for an engrossing final 10 minutes.

Just when it appeared as though the match would end in a draw, Boniface Ooko scored in stoppage time to leave the K’Ogalo camp in shock.

Elsewhere, Sofapaka were also winners, beating Chemelil Sugar 1-0 with Brian Mahgonya scoring the all-important goal to resurrect their chances for a quarter-final ticket.

In another match, David Wakabana scored a brace and Wafula Dennis added the other as Ushuru routed Muhoroni Youth 3-0.
