AFC Leopards on Sunday suffered their worst defeat this season after losing 4-1 to Kakamega Homeboyz in their Kenyan Premier League match at Mumias Sports Complex.

At Nyayo National Stadium, defending champions Gor Mahia’s poor run persisted as they settled for a barren draw against Posta Rangers.

In an earlier match played at the same venue, defender Robinson Kamura scored a spectacular free kick as Mathare United beat Nairobi City Stars 1-0.

Ingwe conceded all the four goals in the first half. The match was stopped briefly after the assistant referee was hit by a stone from the stand.

Sunday Mutuku, Andrew Kulecho and Andrew Murungu scored a goal each for Homeboyz as Eugene Ambulwa slid in an own goal before the referee blew the half-time whistle.

Thirteen-time champions Ingwe only managed a consolation goal from Kepha Aswani.

FAILED TO WIN IN FIVE GAMES

Homeboyz’s striker Abbas Akinyemi and former Leopards captain Bernard Mang’oli were involved in a brawl as the game wore on.

Rangers, coached by Zedekiah Otieno, have failed to win in their last five games. The tactician started with a defensive line up that was marshalled by the combative Joackins Atudo.

On the other hand Gor coach Marcelo Ferreira did the opposite and started with a offensive line up that had Meddie Kagere, Jacques Tuyisenge and George Odhiambo all starting upfront.

The burly Ernest Wendo started up in place of Collins Gattusso, who is serving an indefinite suspension.

The Rwandan duo of Kagere and Tuyisenge were subdued by the Rangers defence.

After a goalless first half, Kagere was pulled out for Enoch Agwanda as Ferreira searched for his first goal in three games.

In the 70th minute, lanky defender Harun Shakava failed to connect from a good position.
