Kenyan Premier League’s Stadia, Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) chairman Laban Jobita has disclosed that Sudi Stadium in Bungoma will be allowed to host league matches.

Jobita, however, said the facility would only be used to host low risk matches.

He said that Nzoia United, which was promoted from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Super League to the top flight last season, would use the stadium for their home matches.

“The safety of players, club and match officials, and fans is very important. The stadium must be secure,” Jobita said in Kakamega on Wednesday.

“Apart from safety, some clubs have a large fan-base that cannot be accommodated at the stadium,” he noted.

The official said his committee carried out an inspection of the stadium last week and passed it fit to host low risk KPL matches. Jobita said it was only the dressing rooms that require some renovation.

“The outer and the inner perimeter walls including the playing surface are in good condition,” he said.

Custodians of the facility, Nzoia Sugar Company, have been told by SSSC to ensure the dressing rooms are ready before the league kick-off set for February 25.
