Senegal, Ghana and DR Congo look the likely contenders of Africa’s biggest sporting prize as action moves to the quarter-finals stage in Libreville, Franceville, Oyem and Port Gentil on Saturday and Sunday.

There remains an outside chance for Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt to claim this coveted prize, if only for their pedigree and experience as past winners.

The trio will, however, have to up their game considering their team performance in the group phases. Senegal, who have surprisingly never won this competition, together with DR Congo, have by far been the most outstanding teams of the competition.

The latter impressed with the way they strolled over Tunisia and Zimbabwe in their opening group games.
