Record 16-time SportPesa Premier League champions Gor Mahia have roped in former Tusker midfielder Humphrey Mieno.

The creative midfielder penned a three-year deal on Friday, days after his contract with the brewers expired.

“I am happy with the move and look forward to joining the rest of the team for preseason. The expectations are high but I can’t divulge more now because everyone is in offseason but for sure I am hopeful of a successful stint,” he told Nation Sport on Friday.

He has been termed a replacement to Kenneth Muguna who is headed to Albanian second division side KF Tirana to link up with his former coach Jose Marcelo Ferreira.

Mieno, who joined Tusker in January 2015 from AFC Leopards, was part of the team that claimed a double last season. He becomes the latest capture at K'Ogalo.

The team has already signed Kakamega Homeboyz defender Charles Momanyi and are said to be in talks with Zoo Kericho left back Isaac Kipyegon, Nzoia Sugar’s Lawrence Juma and midfielder Cersidy 'Carrick' Okeyo who has also left Tusker.

Gor are among clubs busy in the market bolstering their ranks ahead of the 2018 season.

Coach Dylan Kerr wants a big squad in order to compete in the Caf Champions League, with the Kenyan champions facing Equatorial Guinea side Leones Vegetarianos in the first round qualifier.

Meanwhile, Tusker has released 14 players. Apart from Mieno and Okeyo whose contracts ran out at the conclusion of the 2017 season strikers Allan Wanga, Ghanaian Stephen Owusu and captain James Situma did not also renew their contracts.

Anthony Ndolo, George Mandela, Moses Ndawula, Victor Ndinya, Luis Tera, Danson Kago, Noah Wafula, Martin Kizza and Clifford Alwanga were dropped.
