Deposed champions Tusker part ways with four players
What you need to know:
- Ndolo’s contract was set to expire on December 31 next year.
- They sit third on the log with 50 points, similar to Posta Rangers but the latter have a superior goal difference.
Deposed SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Tusker have parted ways with four players with two matches to the end of the ongoing season.
The biggest casualty is the 2014 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Anthony Ndolo who joined the side in January 2016 from Sofapaka.
The former SC Villa and Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) midfielder has not seen much playing time at the club this season this term despite playing a vital role in last season’s team that clinched a double.
Ndolo’s contract was set to expire on December 31 next year. He is joined by Ugandan-born Kenyan midfielder George Mandela, whose contract was to end in June 2019.
Mandela, a Kenyan Premier League New Player of the Year in 2015, joined the club in June 2016 from Muhoroni Youth.
He too was a key figure in Paul Nkata’s team that managed to bag both the SPL and GOtv Shield.
January acquisitions Victor Ndinya and Ugandan Moses Ndawula have been shown the door barely 10 months after signing three-year deals with the Ruaraka-based side.
While Ndinya joined the champions from Bandari, Ndawula came in from Ugandan Premier League outfit Lweza.
The events have sent shockwaves amongst the players with club officials recently warning the playing unit to "expect more changes as time goes by" following a poor season that has seen the brewers surrender the league title to Gor Mahia and GOtv Shield to AFC Leopards.
The brewers, who suspended Coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe three weeks ago, play 2009 champions Sofapaka and four time holders Ulinzi Stars in their remaining two games.
They sit third on the log with 50 points, similar to Posta Rangers but the latter have a superior goal difference.
