The SportPesa Premier League off-season transfer window officially opened Tuesday and clubs wasted little time in getting into the market.

Ten-time Kenyan champions Tusker quickly acquired the services of defender Collins Shivachi from Sofapaka, and they are expected to be busy in the transfer market during this period.

Shivachi penned a two-year deal with the brewers and will be tied to the Ruaraka-based club until 2017. The brewers are on a rebuilding process having missed out on all major silverware in the 2015 season.

The deal is said to have been agreed in July this year but the paper had to wait until the transfer window opens.

“There are several players with whom we are negotiating, and the details will be coming soon.

“We have to rebuild the team because we need to go back to being title contenders as opposed to being mere participants,” new Tusker coach Paul Nkata said.
