Ulinzi Stars' bow in the Caf Confederation Cup ended on a sour note after they lost 1-0 to Libya's Al Hilal Benghazi in the first leg of their preliminary round match at the Cairo Military Academy Stadium, Egypt on Friday.

The soldiers were felled by Ahmed Abar’s second half strike, though Ulinzi players protested the goal arguing that it was scored from an offside position.

Ulinzi, who were without their top marksman John Makwatta and winger Cliff Kasuti, must beat the Libyan giants by two clear goals in the second leg set for February 25 in order to advance to the first round.

The Benjamin Nyangweso-coached side is expected back home on Sunday.

The winner of the two-legged tie will face Smouha of Egypt in the first round.
