Nairobi County secondary schools boys and girls football champions Upper Hill and Olympic Mixed Secondary stayed on course to retaining their football crowns after winning their semi-final matches on Saturday on the second day on the Nairobi County Term Two ‘B’ games at Lenana School.

Upper Hill saw off newcomers Mogra Star 3-0 in the first semi-final match while Olympic ran out 4-0 winners over Kenya High School in the girls’ semis to reach today’s final.

Olympic will take on former national champions Maina Wanjigi in a mouth-watering final after the latter beat New Jogoo Road in the other semi-final match.

The boys’ second semi-final match between Olympic School and Makongeni will be played this morning after a standoff ensued yesterday following allegations by Makongeni that one of the players in the Olympic team belonged to their squad.

WASTED CHANCES

Upper Hill wasted numerous chances in the first-half against Mogra before finally making amends in the second-half, with strikes from Douglas Nyabuto, skipper Ovella Ochieng and Dan Kirui who ensured they beat the newcomers.

Mogra started well, matching Upper Hill in every department and created the first chance which went begging.

Upper Hill were also guilty of missing chances in open play, with Ovella missing three clear-cut chances in the last four encounter.

“We created a host of chances in the first half but we wasted them. In the second half we made the chances count and scored the goals. We deserved to go through after dominating a good side,” Ochieng said.

Olympic had no such trouble in their semi final match, with skipper Elizabeth Wambui and Corazon Aquino each scoring twice in a one-sided encounter.

In volleyball, boys’ champions Hospital Hill will take on Eutychus School in the final which will be a repeat of last year’s final won by Hospital Hill. Hospital Hill thumped Rasul Academy 3-0 ( 25-12, 25-15, 25-14) in the first semi-final while Eutychus beat Moi Forces Academy 3-0 (25-16, 25-9 and 25-17) to qualify for the final.

In the girls’ matches, champions Soweto Academy beat Nembu Girls 3-0 (25-16,25-15, 25-13) in the semis to qualify for the final.
