Patrick Mugendi received the matching orders for a second bookable offence five minutes to the break.

USHURU WIN

Visiting Ushuru beat 10-man Nakuru AllStars 2-1 at the Afraha Stadium.

Defender Teddy Siwa scored in his own net 60 seconds into the match but Joseph Chege restored parity in the 39th minute by finishing off a cross from Dennis Nandwa.

Siwa gave Ken Kenyatta’s side a reason to smile with another own goal four minutes to time. Ezekiel Akwana’s side were reduced to10 men in the 67th minute following Peter Ng’ang’a’s dismissal for a second yellow.

Elsewhere in Eldoret, Golden Field Evangelism (GFE 105) and Migori-based Isibania settled for a goalless draw at Kipchoge Keino Stadium.

Vihiga United assistant coach Francis Xavier was a relieved man after snatching victory ahead of a crucial tie against KCB next week.

“This was a good response from the boys after a bad run. It’s a good motivator heading into the KCB game because we simply need another win to get back on track,” Xavier told Nation Sport.

'UNDER PRESSURE'

The bankers coach Leonard Saleh admitted that his side is under pressure to return to the top flight.

“For us, it’s taking each game at a time. We’ve had tough matches in the past weeks and we are headed for more in the remaining fixtures. We’ve what it takes to return to the premier league and we will take the advantage,” Saleh said.

Vihiga are top of the 19-team log with 62 points, one point ahead of second placed KCB. Ushuru are third on 60 points.
