Defending champions retained their titles as the Kwale County secondary schools Term Two ‘B’ games concluded at Msambweni secondary school on Saturday.

Waa High School retained the boys’ football title, while Mivumoni Secondary and Msambweni Secondary retained the boys’ and girls’ volleyball titles in the games that saw Kwale Girls topple Waa Girls in girls’ football.

Zachariah Hassan’s 18th minute strike was all Waa Boys needed to beat stubborn Kaya Tiwi Secondary by a solitary goal to retain the boys’ football title. This was the third time in less than a month that Kaya Tiwi were losing to Waa Boys, having lost 3-0 at the zonal games and again falling 2-0 at the district championships.

“I must say we lost to a better team because they have been very consistent, beating us in all the three meetings and would only wish them the best of luck as they proceed to ne next level,” Kaya Tiwi principal and technical director, Robert Aran, said.

In the semi-finals, Waa Boys humiliated Mazeras Boys 3-0 while Kaya Tiwi needed post-match penalties to beat Rhamisi Secondary 4-3 in the other semi-final match.

The girls’ final saw Lucy Kwekwe struck a brace to add to Saumu Abdallah’s goal as Kwale Girls ran rings round Mazeras Memorial for 3-0 victory.

In the semi-finals, Kwale Girls beat Franz Joseph Mamba 2-0, while Mazeras beat Moyeni Secondary 2-0 in the other semi-final match.

Msambweni Secondary retained girls’ volleyball title, beating Tumaini 3-1 in this game which could have gone either way.

Msambweni took the first set 25-11, but lost the second 24-25 as the game gathered momentum, forcing the defending champions to change tact and win the ensuing sets 25-16, 25-22. In boys’ final, Mivumoni won 3-0 (25-11,25-17, 25-16).
