Wanga fluffs penalty kick but El Merreikh through to final

Allan Wanga’s El Merreikh of Sudan qualified for the final of the Cecafa-Kagame Cup after beating Uganda’s KCCA 3-0 in post match penalties after the two sides drew 2-2 in 120 minutes of football.
KCCA failed to convert all their attempts from the spot with El Merreikh goalkeeper Salim Omar saving two.
Omar was at hand again to convert the decisive third kick to add to Faisal Muosa and Balla Gabril conversions that got the Sudanese side into Sunday’s final. Wanga missed his spot kick.

Mohamed Traore scored El Merreikh’s first goal in the 33rd minute before Abdalate Abdala added another in the 70th. KCCA replied through Tom Masiko and Brian Umony.

With action concentrated in midfield it took the Sudanese side 27 minutes to find the opener after Mohamed Traore made the most of an assist from Abdallate Abdalla to fire home.
After the half time pep-talk, a resilient KCCA returned re-energized pressing the Sudanese harder into their last third and their efforts yielded fruits with an equalizer in the 50th minute. Masiko made a run down the right wing before unleashing an unstoppable drive from close range beating Omar.
The equalizer fired up the game the game as action swung from end-to-end with the Ugandans growing in confidence.
