Former Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards striker William Inganga has broken his 20-year silence and criticised his former club for “prematurely” showing coach James Nandwa the door.
Inganga, arguably Kenya’s most-travelled professional football player and currently a personal fitness instructor in Qatar, told Saturday Nation Sport that he has shied away from the Kenyan game “because it lacks structures that would make contributions by ex-footballers worth their time.”
HIGH TURNOVER
The 45-year-old father of two says he has been following “Ingwe” keenly and is pained by the high turnover of coaches that’s literally made it impossible for players to gel.
Nandwa was recently shown the door after Leopards got off to a poor start in the current season of the Kenyan Premier League and his replacement is yet to be confirmed. “When you change coaches every time, then you will go nowhere because each coach comes with new players and different ideas,” Inganga said in Doha where he has been contracted to work with the IAAF Doha Diamond League athletics meeting.
Inganga moved from Leopards to Egyptian giants Zamalek in 1994 where he featured for one and a half years before moving to South America to play for Paraguay’s Cerro Porteno in the capital Asuncion.
