National Super League teams in battle for promotion

  • As things stand, Nairobi City Stars and Sofapaka could be relegated from the Kenya Premier League.

  • Nzoia United, Nakumatt, Kariobangi Sharks and Zoo Kericho are eyeing promotion to topoflight league.

Nzoia Sugar, Nakumatt, Kariobangi Sharks and Zoo Kericho are locked in tough battle for promotion to next season’s Kenyan Premier League, with 11 matches remaining before this year’s Kenyan National Super League concludes.

As things stand, Nairobi City Stars and Sofapaka could be relegated from the Kenyan Premier league while Nzoia United, on 67 points from 27 matches, Nakumatt (56), Kariobangi Sharks (53) and Zoo Kericho (53) are eyeing promotion to the top-flight league.

Vihiga United (50) and KCB (47), ranked fifth and sixth respectively, are also battling to move into the four promotion slots.

Next season’s top-flight league will have 18 teams, up from the current 16.
