The Limuru Country Club team of Kang’ethe Ndiho and John Ngugi are the new Tusker Malt Golf Carnival national golf champions.

The pair, playing off handicaps 17 and 28, respectively, combined in the four-ball better-ball format to post a score of 45 points and claim victory over 150 other finalists.

They posted 20 points on the first nine at Muthaiga Golf Club during the weekend’s grand finale and an impressive 25 at the back nine to clinch the VIP trip to South Africa that will involve golf at some of the top golf clubs in Gauteng and professional golf lessons at the Vodacom World of Golf in Sandton.

“This season, the Tusker Malt Golf Carnival visited 15 golf clubs across Kenya and attracted over 2,900 amateur golfers from 35 golf clubs and, on behalf of KBL and the sponsoring brand, Tusker Malt, I would like to thank them all for participating,” said KBL marketing director Caroline Ndung’u.

Well organised event

On behalf of the pair, Kang’ethe thanked the sponsors for a well organised event. The Muthaiga team of Richard Wanjalla and Edmund Kabera finished second with 43 (20, 23) points, beating Karen’s Jeff Bamford and Bob Oliver to third place on count-back.

Another Muthaiga team, of Irungu Macharia and Evans Vitisia, were the guest winners with the highest score of the day, a massive 46 points made up of 23 on each nine. Jeremy Ngunze and Josephat Ngile were second with 43 points.

The first nine was won by the Sigona team of Sammy Ndung’u and Anthony Wachira on 22 points whilst the second nine went to Machakos team of Michael Kamala and Dee Kivuva on 23.
