Long-hitting Dismas Indiza wins Kenya Open qualifier at Limuru

An excellent five under par in the final round saw Mumias-based Dismas Indiza clinch the second leg of a Barclays Kenya Open qualifying tournament at the par-72 Limuru Country Club on Thursday.

Indiza birdied the downhill par five-third hole but dropped a shot at the fourth, although he closed the nine with two back-to-back birdies to carry across the back nine a two under par lead. He bogeyed the 13th after picking up birdies at the 11th and 12th and two more over the two par fives for the day’s 67 and a 54-hole total of eight under par 208 to beat Thika Sports Club’s Simon Ngige by six shots.

“I’m quite happy with this score, although it would have been even lower," said Indiza.

Ngige shot one under par 71 for an all rounds total of two under par 214. Finishing third on one over par total of 217 was Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club’s David Opati who shot level par 72 in the closing round.

The third and final leg of the three-event series is set for Karen Country Club from February 15 to 17.
