Kimani wins KFS tournament at Limuru Golf Club

Former national team captain Francis Kimani, playing off scratch, fired 41 points to claim the overall title in the Kenya Forest Service golf tournament at the weekend.

Kimani rolled in a number of birdies at the front nine at Limuru Golf Club for an impressive 24 points and despite bogeying a couple of holes at the back nine, 17 points were good enough to give him a one point victory against James Nganga on 40 points.

Mwangi Njehia came third with 39 points while the guest prize went to Thika Sports Club’s Paul Waweru who carded 40 points.

Florence Gitao won the ladies category with 38 Stableford points, followed by Margaret Nyakango, who posted 36 points.

TREE AND PROSPERITY

Speaking during the awards presentation ceremony, KFS Chief Corporate Communication Officer Charles Ngunjiri emphasized the need to embrace commercial tree growing for prosperity.

KFS donated 200 tree seedlings to be planted at the club. The next Kenya Forest Service Golf Day will be held at Karen Country Club on October 11.

At Machakos Golf Club, Jackson Nzioki produced an excellent round of 42 points, to walk away with the top prize during the Vivo Energy golf tournament at the nine-hole course.

The handicap five golfer carded 20 points in the outward nine and 22 at the back nine to win by one point from club captain Leonard Munyao Kamba.

Collins Kaloki was third with 40 points and in fourth place was Jackson Ndunda on 39 points. The nines went to Antony Kiiru on 21 and Francis Njeru on 22.

S. Maina won the guest prize with 40 points ahead of J.Mbevi on 32 while Joseph Kahuko carded 33 to walk away with the staff prize.

At Ruiru, Christopher Andrea won the Kiambu County Golf Day with a score of 36 points after beating John Ngaruiya on countback.

A point behind in third place was Marcelo De Jesus.

The best score of the event was a 43 points by lady winner Jane Mwaura who won by three points from Rose Kiai on 40 points.

At Nyali; UAP Golf Day; Overall Winner: Aameen Dhanji 41 points, MenWinner: Chandu Shah 39 points, Lady winner Joyce Lanxe 34 points, Best Senior: Paul Cummings 36 points, Best junior: Erskin Nyongesa 31 points. 

At Nyeri; APA Insurance Golf Day; Winner: Tarsem Sembhi (42), Lady winner: Mercy Mburu (38), Guest: Samuel Njoroge (33).
