The Golf Park’s Sarah Khanyereri emerged top in a three-way countback with an excellent nett 68, to clinch the Overall title in Kenya Orient Insurance sponsored Ladies Open at Limuru Country Club on Saturday.

The 15-year-old Khanyereri, one of the girls from the Rose Naliaka Foundation, birdied the third, fifth, 13th and 15th despite double bogeying the first, 12th and 17th and three other single bogeys elsewhere for 79 gross that gave her nett 68 to beat Karen’s Wanjira Kireri and her colleague in the Naliaka Foundation Agnes Nyakio on countback.

Nyakio took the Silver division nett title where she won by a shot from Martha Vincent. Taking the gross title with one under par 71 was Kenya’s top female golfer Naomi Wafula whose round included birdies at the 11th and 13th with only a bogey at the eighth.

“The course is in an excellent condition. I am happy for the round though i have not had good practise, at least I played better than the ladies Open at Sigona two weeks ago,” said Wafula.

She won by eight shots from Mercy Nyanchama who carded 79 gross. Taking the overall Bronze title in the event which attracted players from all over the country was Margaret Wairimu playing off handicap 22 who posted nett 70 to win by a shot from A. Nyaga and Jane Karingu.

Kitale-based Sarah Otolo took the longest drive prize as Jane Wokabi claimed the nearest to pin prize. This was the seventh year Kenya Orient was sponsored by the Ladies Open, the second national event in the ladies calendar this year.
