The 2014 KCB Golf Tour series ends this week with the staging of the grand finale at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa.

The first round of the 72-hole grand finale, the biggest professional event after the Kenya Open, is set for Tuesday where a field of 60 pros-- the highest number ever to participate in the series finals -- will be battling it out.

They include 10 from Tanzania and five from Uganda.

Earlier, some pros from Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa had shown interest in the event though up to Monday no name had been received from those countries, as well as Rwanda where that country’s top pro Jean Baptiste is currently playing in the United States.

“So far we have a field of 60 players though we are still waiting for more,” said tournament director Elisha Kasuku. Kenya’s leading pro Dismas Indiza leads in the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Order of Merit.

“The course has been prepared well as usual and its in perfect condition, particularly the greens. I will give it my best shot after failing to win the event last year,” said Indiza after a practice round at Nyali Golf and Country Club course.

Missing in the list of 37 Kenyan pros will, however, be Greg Snow, Abdul Sihag and Hardeep Thethy, who are currently away in Dubai for the Mena Tour.
