  • Snow took a break from European Challenge Tour series before leaving London’s Gatwick Airport Thursday morning for Dubai ready for the Sh4.4million ($50,000) Dubai Creek Open.
  • He said he was more than ready for the Middle East series where he played well last year and where he and another Royal player, Hardeep Thethy, are the only Kenyans featuring in the series.

Kenya’s professional golfer Greg Snow is in Dubai to begin the remaining bit of the 2014 Mena Tour Golf Series on Sunday at the Dubai Creek and Yatch Club.

Snow - who has been in Europe since March - took a break from European Challenge Tour series before leaving London’s Gatwick Airport Thursday morning for Dubai ready for the Sh4.4million ($50,000) Dubai Creek Open.

Formerly of Muthaiga, Snow shifted to Royal prior to his visit of Europe and featured in this year’s British Open regional qualifier where he shot 72 to move the final qualifier where he however managed 73 and 75 to miss a starting place in the Open.

He then moved to Belgium where missed the cut in the Belgium Challenge after shooting 78 and 79. The story was the same in the Swiss Challenge (76, 75) and the French Open (74, 74). He however tied for fourth place in the Egyptian Open with rounds of 70, 70 and 72, and 34th in the Slovakia challenge where he shot 73, 67, 70, 70.

STARTED WELL

He had started the year on a high by making the top 10 in the Barclays Kenya Open at Karen and 23rd in the first Mena Tour event at Royal D’Anfa in Morocco where he fired 72, 70 and 74, and a 15th place finish in the second place at Royal Dar es Salaam also in Morocco.

“I think I needed the short break in order to re-focus my strategy for the remaining part of the Mena Tour and the season as a whole," said Snow before boarding his flight at Gatwick for Dubai.

He said he was more than ready for the Middle East series where he played well last year and where he and another Royal player, Hardeep Thethy, are the only Kenyans featuring in the series.

“It’s been average through the summer, took some time off after challenge tour which has helped me to get where I want," said Snow who will be playing in all the seven events including the Tour grand finale at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club from November 1 to 4.
