  • At Muthaiga Golf Club, Kenya ladies champion Kellie Gachaga fired 78 gross to win the Silver division in the Muthaiga Ladies Open at the weekend.

Kiambu vice chairman Fredrick Njeru Njagi was in his best form over the weekend as he posted a magnificent 44 points of 21 and 23 points to win the Njogu wa Njoroge golf tournament.

On his way to victory, Njagi, also a past captain of the club, made a number of pars and birdies to beat the single handicapper John Ngure by five points.

“I have been playing well lately and in particular after victory in Karen last month, but I did not expect to win with such a big score,” said Njagi. 

The handicap six Ngure who carded 20 and 19, claimed the men’s title though after beating S.K. Macharia on countback while Joseph Muchigi on 38 was third. In the ladies section, Joyce Wanjiru, the club’s leading lady golfer posted 36 points to win the ladies title.

Also featuring in the prize list was Julius Kinuthia who produced an impressive 40 points. 

At Muthaiga Golf Club, Kenya ladies champion Kellie Gachaga fired 78 gross to win the Silver division in the Muthaiga Ladies Open at the weekend.

She won by two shots from Golf Park’s Agnes Nyakio on 80 while Eldoret’s Esther Chumo was third 82 gross after beating Florence Maina and Naomi Wafula on countback.

The nett title went to P. Wangongu on nett 72. Taking the bronze title was home player Meera Shah on 93, winning by three shots.
