Huge field at Windsor for communications authority’s tournament

The par 72 Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club course is the venue this weekend for the Communications Authority of Kenya golf tournament.

The first tournament which CA is staging this year, has attracted a huge field of over 200 players drawn from various clubs in the country in addition to Windsor members.

A follow-up of another successful event held at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, tomorrow’s tournament gets under way from 7.30am.

Going for the top prize among the Windsor members will include Mike Macharia, Humphrey Maina, George Karugu and Wachira Mahihu.

Lining up for the ladies prizes includes veteran lady golfer and former Kenya ladies amateur champion Florence Maina, immediate past Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) chairman Joyce Wafula and the current KLGU chairman Mary Wambugu.

Away in Thika, over 250 golfers will be hosted by NIC Bank at the 18-hole stableford where hunting for the top prize will be some of the single figure handicap golfers including David Karuma, and David Matano. Two weeks ago they posted an impressive 41 points playing off handicap six to claim the overall prize in the Kenya Forest Service tournament.

The Thika course is current playing long due to the on going rains, hence will favour mostly the single figure handicap golfers.

Away in Kitale which was the venue last weekend of the Trans Nzoia Open won by Kericho’s William Odera, will host the Kenya Orient Insurance sponsored event which has attracted players from Eldoret and Nandi Bears among other clubs while back in Nairobi, Karen Country Club will be the venue for the Crown Teflon being sponsored by Crown Paints.
