Englishman Murray, Vet Lab’s Wangila claim second Pro-Am

Englishman Tony Murray and Vet Lab Sports Club’s amateur Fernando Wangilla produced a fine score of 10 under par 62 to claim the second Pro-Am title in day two of the KCB Karen Masters at Karen Country Club on Saturday.

But the two won after beating the team of Italian pro Matteo Delpodio and Dan Shah on countback in the low scoring event where the individual scores of the professionals was carried forward for today’s all pro event.

In the individual pro category, Reinier Sixton of the Netherlands fired six under par 66 to lead the list of pros who included the 22 local pros who will take part in this year’s Barclays Kenya Open.

Sixton tied  at the top with compatriot Wil Besseing. Finishing a shot behind were Tony Murry and another Dutch Jurrian  van Der Vaart on five under par 67. The best Kenyan pro for the day was Mombasa-based Njuguna Ngugi who shot three under par 69 as four other local pros tied on one under par 71.

They were Nelson Mudanyi of Muthaiga, Windsor’s David Opati, now and Eldoret Golf Club’s Boniface Simwa.

In the first Pro-Am played on Friday which attracted only 42 pros, the pair of Italy’s Lorenzo Gagli and Karen amateur Isaac Githuthu shot 11 under par 61 to win by two shots from Englishman Charlie Ford and David Odhiambo Owino who beat the pair of Ben Evans from England and another Karen amateur Emmanuel Agengo on countback. Bradly Neil was the best individual pro on six under par 66.

He was a shot better than Ben Evans, Ford, and Mathew Baldwin. Matteo Delpodio was net on four under par 68. Today’s round gets under way at 9am.ends
