The chase for Golfer of The Year (Goty) points for Kenya’s top amateurs moves to Vet Lab Sports Club this weekend for the Multichoice Kenya-sponsored Kabete Open.

This year’s event has attracted a small field of 64 players who, besides the Goty points, will also be hunting for the World Amateur Ranking points and some fabulous prizes being offered by Multichoice Kenya.

The entry does not however include the veteran Francis Kimani of Limuru who beat Railway’s Alfred Nandwa by two points in Mombasa to win the century old Barry Cup.

Nandwa will be in action and so will be Muthaiga’s Jeff Kubwa, who finished fourth in Mombasa. Also drawn is last year’s winner Anthony Kinuthia, and home players Mike Kisia, Railway’s George Felix and Samuel Njoroge among others.

The first round gets under way from 7am followed by the second round in the afternoon.

In Eldoret, golfers from Nandi Bears, Kakamega and Kitale are drawn in the fourth leg of the 2016 KCB Corporate Golf Tour at the par 71 Eldoret Golf Club course and local professional Boniface Simwa, who will also be in action, says the course is in great shape at the moment.

The entry include the club’s top juniors Rishab Sagoo (14) currently playing off eight, Aman Gujral (15), and Sahil Aggarwal (16) playing off 10 and 15.

They are in top form and all set to battle it out with some of the club’s senior players.
