Coast teams converge on Voi

The battle lines are drawn as teams converge in Voi, Taita Taveta County on Wednesday for Airtel Rising Stars Coast region secondary schools Term Two ‘B’ games.

The games which will feature girls’ and boys’ football, volleyball and racquet games, will be used to select Coast region teams for the national secondary schools games to be staged in Machakos later this month.

The boys’ football champions Tononoka Secondary will face modest opposition in their opening group ‘B’ match when they take on Lamu Boys in a match which kicks off at noon.

The other pool ‘B’ match set to be played concurrently will see hosts Mwangea Secondary take on Wenje Secondary in a match the hosts are expected to dominate.

POOL A MATCHES

Another match in boys’ pool ‘A’ set to kick off at 10am will see Gede Secondary square it out with Dr Aggrey Secondary School, while Likoni Secondary will be taking on Waa Boys in another match expected to be tough.

The opening match in girls’ pool ‘A’ will see defending champions St John’s Kaloleni square it out with Lamu’s Lake Kenyatta Secondary. At the time, hosts Shimbo Secondary will be taking on Kajembe Secondary from Mombasa.

Girls’ pool ‘B’ matches set for 3pm will see Ribe Girls take on Kwale Girls, while Bura Girls will be taking on Madogo Secondary.

According to the draw conducted yesterday, pool ‘A’ of boys football has Gede Secondary, Likoni Secondary, Dr Aggrey and Waa Boys, while pool ‘B’ has Tononoka Secondary, Mwangea, Lamu Boys and Wenje Secondary.

Girls’ draw has defending champions St John’s Kaloleni, Shimbo, Lake Kenyatta and Kajembe while pool ‘B’ has Ribe Girls, Bura Girls, Kwale Girls and Madogo Secondary.

BOYS' VOLLEYBALL

Boys’ volleyball matches will see defending champions Mivumoni Secondary take on Moi Forces Academy of Mombasa while Kenyatta High School Mwatate will have a date with Marifano Secondary.

St John’s Girls Kaloleni will be taking on Murray Girls while Tumaini Secondary will take on Mau Mau in the girls’ matches set for 10.30 am.

Pool ‘B’ matches in boys’ volleyball set for noon will see Tumaini Secondary take on St George’s while Ngutini Secondary battle Lamu’s Lake Kenyatta Secondary.
Girls’ volleyball defending champions Msambweni Secondary will face Taita Taveta’s Sagala International, while Lamu Girls will take on Sea Side from Mombasa.
