Boys’ football champions Passenga from Aberdare rallied from behind to snatch a point against minnows Green Palms from the Coast in their second match of Pool B of the Airtel Rising Stars Secondary Schools Term Two B National Games that entered Day Two on Wednesday.

In the encounter staged at Moi Stadium, Passenga fell behind to a Shukran Muramba’s superb goal in the 30th minute from a counter attack. Green Palm held on until the closing minutes when Passenga levelled matters. Passenga defeated Subunley 3-0 in their first match.

“The game was difficult. Things did not work out as planned and this puts us in a difficult situation. We have a tough match against Laiser Hill tomorrow (Thursday). We have to work quickly on our mistakes,” said Passenga coach Daniel Musomba.

In another Pool B match played at Kisumu Boys, last year’s finalists Laiser Hill (Metropolitan) had an easy day out thumping newcomers Subunley (Northern) 7-1. Rampant Peter Kinyanjui netted six goals.

Subunley started the match on a high note with Suleiman Hussein finding the back of the net after only six minutes played.

However, their joy lasted only six minutes as Kinyanjui equalised in the 12th minute and added the second in the 29th before the floodgates opened in the second half. Further strikes from Kinyanjui in the 57th, 59th, 69th and 82nd minute ended the contest even as Richard Odanda completed the rout in the 89th minute.

In the girls’ football, Aberdare representatives Nginda Girls, kept their hopes for a semi-final berth alive following a 2-0 triumph over Kirigara from Highlands.
