Kisumu Day take on Kiandege in Lake Region Games

Hosts Kisumu Day will face off with Kiandege from Nyamira County in the opening fixture of the Airtel Rising Stars Lake Region Secondary Schools Term Two B Games, which begin on Thursday at their back yard, Moi Stadium and Lions High School.
The three-day championship was earlier scheduled for Tuesday, but organisers pushed it forward to give participants time to complete their term examinations.
Defending champions Kisumu are in Pool A alongside Kanga High School (Migori County) and promising Barding (Siaya County), who lock horns in the second fixture.
Pool B has Kisii County champions Bong’onta, Usenge, St Ignatius Rayola, Magadi and debutantes Omboga.
Usenge will take on Bong’onta from Migori County in the first encounter while Omboga Homa Bay County) will battle it out with Kisumu County’s Magadi in the second match.
Kisumu coach Dan Otieno downplayed concerns about pressure. He is optimistic of defending their title.
“We are gearing up for a tricky match; it will not be easy, but we aim for national games qualification. We have prepared well, we believe everything would work in our favour,” said Otieno.
In the girls’ category, champions Kobala from Kisumu face a tricky Pool A where they play against former champions Jera from Siaya, Nyakach and Omobera while Pool B has Sindo from Mbita in Homabay County, Ekenyoro from Nyamira, St Gemma of Migori and Magadi Ladies, who bundled out former champions Abwao.
In boys' volleyball, Olembo from Siaya County battle it out with Marindi from Homa Bay in the first encounter before Homa Bay High meets Sagegi from Migori County in the other Pool A match.
