Majengo’s Gabriel “Iron Shaffie” Mukundi is the Mr Kamukunji Talent Search Bodybuilding champion.

The 25-year-old Mukundi, who is a bouncer at Club Edge, Nairobi unleashed a well-proportioned symmetry to edge out 20 other competitors to the title during the inaugural championship held at YMCA, Shauri Moyo, Nairobi on Friday.

Light heavyweight Mukundi guided Austin Odhiambo from Syokimau (middleweight) and Kahawa’s Edwin Otieno (bantamweight) to the thrilling final pose-down against 17 others.

“It’s a good start to my bodybuilding caree. My next target is Mr Nairobi and ultimately Mr Kenya,” said Mukundi, who was declared the winner after beating Odhiambo, 30, and Otieno, 25, to second and third places respectively.

“I had an edge after presenting a well-balanced physique," said Mukundi, who plans to add more mass to be able to make an impact at forthcoming competitions. “My dream is to one day represent Kenya at big events and perhaps contest at Mr Olympic.”
