Ramisi Secondary and Kwale Girls High are the new Airtel Rising Stars Coast Secondary Schools football champions.

Ramisi continued their brilliant performance with a narrow but deserved 2-1 victory over Tononoka Secondary in the boys’ final while Kwale defeated defending champions St John’s Kaloleni 2-0 in the girls’ affair as the Coast Region Secondary Schools Term Two B Games came to an end at Kilifi Secondary in Kilifi on Saturday.

While Ramisi, who are also the Coast region under-16 champions, will be celebrating all the way to Nyeri where the National will be held later in the month, Tononoka will be cursing the devil that has seen this football title elude them since 2013.

Rasu Khamisi put Ramisi into the driving seat in the fifth minute but Ali Mzee drew level for Tononoka at the stroke of half time.

Hassan Mwandambo assured the Kwale-based school of the title and a ticket for the Nationals with a goal three minutes from time.

The girls’ finals was equally competitive.

Kwale Girls brought to a sudden end St John’s Kaloleni’s six-year reign as Coast champions with a 2-0 drubbing.

Catherine Aringo scored the match opener in the 36th minute with Elizabeth Katungwa scoring the second in the 70th minute to give Kwale, who are also the regional under-16 champions, the victory.

Waa Boys High, as expected, defeated Shimo Secondary 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-23) to successfully retain the boys’ volleyball title while St John’s Kaloleni held onto the girls volleyball crown with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-20) win over Kwale Girls.
