  • In a Pool B clash, Kaya Tiwi, who are also the East Africa Secondary Schools champions, got off to a flying start to lead 28-0 in the first quarter. They never looked back going to the break 55-0 up.
  • The last two quarters showed scores of 35-2 and 30-4 as the Kwale school showed their complete dominance.

In a Pool B clash, Kaya Tiwi, who are also the East Africa Secondary Schools champions, got off to a flying start to lead 28-0 in the first quarter. They never looked back going to the break 55-0 up.

In another girls match, Lamu Girls put up a good show to beat Lungalunga Secondary 50-41 in Pool A.

Kaya Tiwi headmaster, Robert Aran said they still had a strong team to win the crown and qualify for the national games. “I’m confident we will retain our regional title,” he asserted. In boys’ basketball, title holders Aga Khan Academy made a flying start by beating Mpeketoni Secondary from Lamu 64-36 in a Pool A match.

In other matches, last year’s runner-up St George's from Kilifi dismissed Kaya Tiwi 63-50, Shimba Hills (Kwale) edged out Tana River’s Madogo 46-17 and Shimo la Tewa (Mombasa) were 92-49 winners against St Mary’s (Taita Taveta).

St John’s Girls High of Kilifi got off to a fine start in their hockey title defence when they beat Kwale Girls 6-0 with Sharon Zawadi scoring four goals.
