Shimba Hills reach netball semis

Shimba Hills Wednesday drubbed Minnows Tetu 47-10 to reach the semi-finals of girls’ netball as national secondary schools Term 2A games entered the second day at Kisii High School.

Shimba led 27-10 at half time and never looked back to book a place in the last four with its attacker Maryline Chesang being the highest scorer with 27 goals.

Shimba Hills had earlier humiliated Kirigara 62-06 while St Francis Cheptarit walloped Kirigara 56-8.

St Cecelia Misikhu from Nzoia brought down Nduluku from  Metropolitan 71-10 in Pool B.

Today, Shimba Hills face Chepterit to determine the winner of Pool A while in Pool B, defending champions Obambo from Lake Region will face off with Misikhu.

Athletics competition start today at Gusii Stadium according to Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) secretary David Ngugi.

“A total of 12 athletics activities are lined up today with Nakuru Region expected to dominate middle and long distances,” Ngugi said.

The events include 10, 000m walk, 10,000m flat, short put (women), Pole Vault (men), high jump (men), discuss (men), triple jump (men), javeline (women), 5, 000m (women), swhort put (men), long jump (women, and 3, 000m steeplechase (women).

St Peters Mumias (Nzoia) face upcoming Moi Sirgoi as Shimba Hills take on Kiriaini.

Lake Region defending champions, St Mary’s Yala meet Itierio Boys as Menengai tackles St Georges Kaloleni. Strathmore School will play Mang’u while Kiambu High will meet Homa Bay Boys.
