Sharp shooters aim for Kenya Open Bisley Full-bore

Signs of a stiff battle at this year’s Kenya Open Bisley Full-bore are all too clear after shooters shared the spoils ahead of the championships proper that started Thursday at the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Shooting Laikipia Range.

Fresh from winning the KDF Trophy two weeks ago, Grace Rantille from General Service Unit was in fine form to win the Star Trophy with a score of 69.10.

KDF's Mark Ekiru collected the Bob Morgan Memorial Trophy with an impressive score of 71.6.

Kenya Police inspector Mike Lekalaile, who is based at Eastleigh, scooped 146.18 points to lift the Ao Roberts Trophy while Philip Kipchumba from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was home and dry with a 67.8 points to win the Standard Cup.

William Ahongo (GSU) carded 102.9 to win the Stuart Wortley Trophy while the 2011 and 2014 Kenya Open champion Christopher Saina (GSU) walked away with the McCallum Trophy with a round of 68.8 points.

Reuben Macharia (GSU) scored 261.11 points to claim the Drumond Trophy. In the Star contest, Rantille edged out club mate and 2015 Kenya Open champion Sanford Otundo for the overall title.

Oundo had to settle for Super X Class 1 honours on 65.7, beating club-mate Reuben Macharia for Super X Class 2 on 63.4.

Kenya Police champion Irene Wanjiku (GSU) won X Class on 64.4, beating Anthony Muriithi (DCI) on 63.7 while Brenda Ajiambo(KDF) won O Class on 62.5 where Chala Jaldesa (KDF) finished second in 61.3. Daniel Hirbo (KDF) 0n 62.2 won T class, beating henry Obiero (GSU) 59.4. Pricilla Wangui was the best lady in Star competition on 59.1. 
Ekiru dismissed David Kirui (GSU) to Super X Class at the Bob Morgan Memorial Trophy on countback even as both firers returned identical 71.6 points each.
Kipchumba won Super X Class 2 on 70.4, John Njenga (KDF) won X Class on 71.5, edging out Rantile (GSU) on 69.5.
Daniel Mutunga (Eastern) shot 70.6 for O class honours, beating Ajiambo to second on 68.4 while Richard Lepirr (ASTU) carded 70.5 for T Class after edging out Hirbo on 68.5. Joyce Chebii  (KDF) was the best lady on 69.5.
Lekalaile won AO Roberts Trophy, leaving Otundo to go for SX Class on 143.10 where Kipchumba settled for second on 142.9.
