Upper Hill and Olympic Mixed on Sunday secured the Under-16 boys' and girls' football titles as the Nairobi Region Secondary Schools Term Two A Games ended at Lenana School.

Upper Hill needed extra time to beat Hospital Hill 2-1 in the boys' final, as Olympic hit Kenya High 3-1 to retain their girls' crown.

Dr Ribeiro Parklands upset all odds to claim a maiden boys' handball title after a 24-11 win over hosts Lenana in the final. New Jogoo Road Girls won the girls' final after they overcame Buru Buru Girls 23-9.

St Dorcas are the netball champions after a hard fought 26-21 win over Parklands Arya. Upper Hill's win was a welcome a relief after they lost in the final in last year's regional games.

"It was a hard fought win. We should have won the match in regular time but we missed numerous chances," Upper Hill coach Joseph Makokha said on Sunday.

"Last year's heartbreak was still fresh in our minds but that is now history. Our focus is now on the nationals," he added.

Upper Hill's lethal striker Monyping Matol was his team's hero bagging a brace, including the winner in extra time. Upper Hill had beaten Dagoretti 3-0 in the semis as Hospital Hill hit Eastleigh High School 1-0 in the other last four encounter.

Upper Hill dominated the opening exchanges but were unable to find the killer touch in their opponent's final third. Their wastefulness saw the teams go into break goalless.

Makokha introduced Matola for Ashton Ouma in the 55nd minute and the change bore fruit as Matola scored the opening goal five minutes later.

Hospital Hill levelled two minutes later though Maurice Ochieng's header. Both teams were unable to find a winning goal forcing extra time.

In the girls' final, Drailer Salome scored twice with Cynthia Akinyi grabbing the third. Rosemary Arwa pulled a goal back for Kenya High.

On Saturday, Muhuri Muchiri won the sevens rugby title after a 31-12 win over Nairobi School.

The top two teams in rugby will represent the region at next month's National Games in Mombasa while only the winners in the other disciplines will be in Mombasa.
