QUALIFY FOR THE 2015 IRB JUNIOR WORLD TROPHY

The winner between Kenya and Namibia will qualify for the 2015 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy.

Meanwhile, CAR has rescheduled the Africa Cup Sevens that was originally set to run concurrently with the Safaricom Safari Sevens September 26 to 28 at Kasarani.

KRU Chairman Mwangi Muthee disclosed that CAR made the decision so as to spare the host from logistical challenges that would have arisen from hosting both the Safaricom Sevens and the CAR Sevens at the same time.

“Africa Cup Sevens will now be held in November,” said Muthee adding that some core IRB World Sevens Series sides have confirmed participation at Safari Sevens. “We shall disclose the identity of the teams during the launch in two weeks,” explained Muthee.

Kenya Sevens coach Paul Treu will be using the Safari Sevens to shortlist his final squad for the 2014/2015 IRB World Series that start in Gold Coast on October 11 to 12.

Muthee said talks are on to revise the players’ contracts.

”We shall make them performance based contracts so as to enhance competition for positions,” said Muthee.
