All set for Embu Sevens

The Embu Stadium is set hold its first Sevens Rugby tournament on Saturday.

The organisers of the event sponsored by Safaricom, Airtel and the Embu County government inspected the stadium where the tournament is to be held on Tuesday and proposed some modifications.

The Embu 7s team is among the teams that will feature at the event slated to be held annually.

Ten teams drawn from Nairobi (Mean Machine Old Boys), Meru, Chuka, Nanyuki and Nyeri with three teams being drawn from Embu have confirmed participation.

Embu County Chief Officer Youth Empowerment and Sports, Raymond Kinyua, said this will be an annual event that will be geared towards tapping talent in the region.

Embu Rugby Club Chairman Moses Mukabane said that the team is ready having participated in similar tournaments for the last two years.

The team finished fourth last season in the nationwide league. It also participated in the last Masaku Sevens, Meru Sevens and Nanyuki Tens.
