Kenya's chances of a maiden Rugby World Cup (RWC) finals appearance suffered a blow after the team succumbed to a crashing 10-27 defeat to Zimbabwe on Sunday.

The team's chance has now been reduced to a mathematical possibility, depending on the results of the match between Namibia and Madagascar.

Kenya must now finish second in the four-team qualifiers and then face Russia for a place in the Repechage Final.

Jerome Paarwater’s Simbas went into the Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) match on a clean sheet, having beaten favourites Namibia and Madagascar 29-22 and 34-0 respectively.

Simbas only needed to avoid defeat to get an unassailable lead that would handed them a first appearance at next year’s RWC finals in England and Wales.
