Prinsloo Sevens champions Homeboyz are top seeds at 29th edition of the Kabeberi 7s scheduled for this weekend at RFUEA grounds.

Homeboyz, who are fresh from winning the Prinsloo title after edging Impala 24-19 in Nakuru on Sunday take on Prinsloo Plate losing semi-finalists Nakuru, Western Bulls and Citam Kisumu.

Homeboyz, who reached the Plate semi-finals last year, are eyeing their second Kabeberi Sevens crown after their 2013 exploits.

“We feel inspired by the Prinsloo victory to go all the way and lift our maiden National Seven Series title,” said Homeboyz coach Simon Odongo.

The best show by Homeboyz was during the 2014 season where they finished second in the Series behind Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB).

Five-time champions Impala, who last won the title in 2005, highlight Pool B that has Prinsloo losing Plate semi-finallists Kabras Sugar, Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and Mean Machine of the University of Nairobi.

Kenya Harlequin, who are chasing their seventh title, are favourites in Pool C that has hosts and defending champions Mwamba. Quins, who won last in 2012 are the most successful side in the tournament alongside Mwamba, having won the diadem six times each. Catholic Monks and the new kids on the block Menengai Oilers are also in the same pool.

Pool D has 2010 champions Strathmore Leos, who lost to Quins in Prinsloo play-off, Prinsloo Plate winners KCB, Nondescripts and Kisii.

In Division Two, Daystar Falcons, Kisumu, Masaku and MKU Thika are the top seeds. Other notable teams in this category are Moi University, Stormers and Technical University of Kenya.

Division Two matches will kick off on Friday at RFUEA grounds before wrapping up on Saturday at Impala Club.
