Runaway Safaricom National Sevens series leader Homeboyz showed their thirst to consolidate their lead when they blanked Impala 12-7 in their opening match as the Top Fry Prinsloo Sevens got underway at Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday.

And to prove that their first win was not a fluke, Homeboyz thrashed Mombasa 17-0 to stay on course to clinch the series.

Hosts Nakuru started their title chase on a winning note by beating a stubborn Kisumu 7-5 in a closely contested battle that could have gone either way.

The lake side team gave a good account of themselves but were let down by poor ball handling and lack of experience.

WHIPPING BOYS

Kabras Sugar overwhelmed whipping boys Mombasa 27-5 before hitting Impala 22-5.

Defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) subdued Western Bulls 22-0 and silenced Masaku 36-7 while Nondies taught Masaku a rugby lesson by thrashing them 26-5.

However, Nondies met their match when they were beaten 5-0 by Western Bulls.

Mwamba RFC scored the highest score of the day when they overrun Catholic University of East Africa 41-0 and in their second match they beat Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) 38-6.

Quins whipped KCA 36-5 while in another match Strathmore walloped fellow students Daystar University 36-0.

In a Division Two contest, Kenyatta University Blak Blad beat Makueni 26-12 while in another game Mount Kenya University (MKU) Nairobi Campus beat Mbale 7-5.

In their second match, MKU found the going tough when they fell 12-24 to Makueni.

WALKOVER
Kiambu RFC, featuring in the tournament for the first time, beat Thika 5-0. However, in their second match Thika atoned for the defeat by beating Kisii University 12-7. Kisii had beaten Machakos 38-7 in their first match.

Machakos changed their game when they faced Kiambu whom they beat 17-10 while University of Nairobi Mean Machine trounced Brundies 19-0.
Egerton University were awarded a walkover on 20-0 basis after their opponents Mean Machine arrived on the pitch late.

In their second match the Njoro based lads were no match to Comras who beat them 19-0.

In their opening game, Comras scored a single try to see off Brundies 5-0 while Bungoma Sharks fell to a 5-7 loss to Masinde Muliro University.

OPENING VICTORY

Technical University of Kenya (TUK) failed to show up at Nakuru handing their opponents Jomo Kenyatta University of of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) their opening victory on 20-0 basis.

MKU Thika Campus dismissed rookies Molo RFC 22-0, Eldoret hammered Shieyue 20-0, Moi University defeated Stormers 20-0 while Blak Blad hit Mbale 28-0.

Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RIVIST) opened their campaign on a sound note by beating Bungoma 7-0.
